Call Out Procedure
The decision about which Team members to call is based upon their residence town, hence proximity to the incident, and sometimes upon the specific skills and qualifications demanded by the nature of the missions. The dispatcher calls those team members until the number requested by Fish & Game has been met. As Team members respond positively, the dispatcher relays their names to the Pemi incident leader, who is stationed at te staging area. Members sign in with both Pemi and Fish & Game upon arrival at the staging area. No one leaves a mission in progress without notifying the person in charge. At the conclusion of the mission, members sign out with both Pemi and Fish & Game. Because a specific number of team members is requested by Fish & Game, dispatchers continue calling until they make direct contact with team members and reach the target number of responders; they then notify the incident leader which members will be reporting to the staging area. If the mission is canceled or concludes quickly, or the staging area changes, the Pemi incident leader thus knows who to notify en route. It is the responsibility of each team member to keep the secretary apprised of current phone numbers, to maintain a ready pack, and to stay in sufficient physical shape to with stand the rigors of a mission.
